Over 20 boxes of urgent supplies for victims of Typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng have been handed over to the Rotary Club of Bacolod Marapara by the children of the School for Creative Beginners, Bacolod City.
The boxes are being sent along with donated goods from the school’s management and club members to its sister club, the Rotary Club of San Pedro Laguna, which in turn will distribute the relief items to those in need.
Said school director Lulu Sarrosa: “Every December we have a ‘Share Day’ where SCB children donate food and toys to the less fortunate youngsters in our community.
“However, given the great hardship caused by the typhoons, we decided to bring our ‘Share Day’ forward and make a contribution to the people whose lives have been devastated by the calamities.”
The boxes include canned goods, medicines, noodles, mats, slippers, shoes and kitchenware. In addition, Marapara Rotary made a cash donation of P10,000.
“We are very proud of the children,” said club president Al Picardal. “Although they are young, they realized the gravity of the situation and worked hard and with great enthusiasm to collect donations from friends and family.”
